Tutor volunteers work with students either one-on -one or in small groups of up to six for a minimum of three hours per week. Tutors are asked to commit a period of one academic year (Sep-Jun) and to report teaching hours on a monthly basis.

To be a tutor you must be at least 18 years old, a good communicator in English, responsible, flexible, energetic, patient, conscientious and willing to help.

The Literacy Council provides free training for ESL tutors. For Fall 2008, training will be held in three evening sessions comprising a total of nine hours. The sessions will be held at our Wenatchee offices from 6pm to 9pm on Oct 3, Oct 24 and Nov 21.
